An "Outcall" service

FMA comes to you, saving you time and energy

FMA's services are ideal for school owners and training groups - helping expand focus upon what they already offer students, linking different systems/styles, or exploring something new.

FMA focuses on what is the same throughout all systems and styles, and uses principles and concepts to guide drill, game/play and feedback tool based training in order to develop attributes and methods for exploring martial art in a fun and exciting way.

"It's not about having an answer. It's about learning to find solutions." - Francis Fong

"Martial art is an infinite journey. The thing about infinity is, we're all the same distance from the end." - Jack Hoban

If one thought of exploring a new landscape or environment, one might simply use existing paths or roads established in the area. In martial art, this would be analogous to techniques, systems or styles. One maypurchase a map, or visit a tourism board for information about the region. In martial art, this would be like reading books or articles on the subject. If one wanted, one could prepare not at all and just wander about, discovering on their own what the area has to offer. This might equate to someone attempting to learn the art completely on their own, or without any consistency

However, if one wanted to maximize one's time and wanted to see and experience as much as possible, one would hire a guide. Guides know the terrain, the ins and outs of the region they are from. Guides can navigate without getting lost. Guides can serve as translators, gatekeepers, guardians or intermediaries and can offer cultural and natural historical perspectives to the views and experiences one encounters. Guides, in martial art, are the instructors, teachers and mentors.

fractal |ˈfraktəl| Mathematics
noun
A curve or geometric figure, each part of which has the same statistical character as the whole. Fractals are useful in modeling structures (such as eroded coastlines or snowflakes) in which similar patterns recur at progressively smaller scales, and in describing partly random or chaotic phenomena such as crystal growth, fluid turbulence, and galaxy formation.

As a guide service, FMA encourages exploration of the art in all its expressions, pointing out landmarks and pathways, adding useful historical, cultural or scientific background, and working to enhance participant's overall appreciation and increased understanding of the art in context. More importantly, the service provided by FMA involves teaching one to navigate on one's own - developing the tools and skills to eventually explore any environment (system/style/circumstance) at any time without getting lost- to create new paths and draw one's own maps, so to speak. FMA hopes participants will become guides themselves. Or, if already in that position, we hope to expand upon participant's knowledge and skill sets so as to become even more effective guides.
